FALCON II

Falcon II is an opto-electronic LIDAR system (Light Detection And Ranging) developed by TopoSys for three-dimensional data acquisition of the earth’s surface. The measuring method for generating digital elevation models is based on active distance measurement by means of a laserscanner and is complemented by GPS positional determination and inertial navigation system. In parallel with this, a passive RGB/NIR line scanner has been integrated for the direct generation of the digital RGB and CIR true ortho images.
The Falcon II design is based on expertise of many years’ standing in the development and practical operation of the LIDAR TopoSys I and has been optimized for the rough service conditions in aircraft and helicopters.

Falcon II

Falcon II comprises essentially three units:

  • Sensor rack
  • Computer rack
  • Operator console

The mechanical integration of the system into an aircraft is user-friendly and is accomplished with effortless ease. The electrical connections were reduced to the absolute minimum of cabling. During the flight the operator has a display of particularly high luminous intensity with a simple-to-use graphic interface.

Service

TopoSys offers the sensor customer services tailored to the Falcon II system, such as setup, training support and maintenance.

Hire of the LIDAR

For customers wishing to test the Falcon II before purchase, TopoSys offers daily, weekly or monthly hire of the system. This enables the customer to use the Falcon II in a LIDAR project and to satisfy himself of the system’s performance before purchase. Rental fees for such test projects are taken into account at purchase after the test.
